WordPress Meetups Postponed over #COVID-19 #CoronaVirus

Hello Members,

Following the WordPress Community team recommendations for event organizers in light of COVID-19 (https://make.wordpress.org/community/2020/03/11/new-recommendations-for-event-organizers-in-light-of-covid-19/) and the President of Uganda’s address on avoiding the pandemic, ( https://www.yowerikmuseveni.com/address-corona-virus-covid-19-guidelines-avoiding-pandemic ), we are sadly postponing our earlier scheduled March Meetup on Choosing and Customising WordPress themes.

Apologies to all those who look forward to the meetup each month, but based on the most recent advice for managing this Pandemic, self-isolation, and social distancing are two of the most important things everyone can do at the moment, to help prevent the spread of this virus. And of course, always practise good hygiene and make sure you wash your hands.

Good hygiene includes:

  • Covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
  • Disposing of tissues properly
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet
  • Using alcohol-based hand sanitisers
  • Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces
  • If you are sick, avoiding contact with others and staying more than 1.5 metres away from people

At this time, we have tentatively postponed the meetup to Saturday 25th April, but as usual, we’ll keep a watchful eye on the news related to COVID-19 and update the Meetup page closer to the date.

All the WordPress outreaches we have been making to schools like the recent one at Trinity College Nabbingo and Katikamu SDA SSS have also been put on hold till further notice.
